Sterling silver scrunchie bracelets are one of our best sellers at Coolrocks!
Here’s a bit of nostalgia for you all, who remembers those edible bracelets you could buy at the sweet shop with the multi coloured sweets on an elasticated band? They were great weren’t they! Well these bracelets are exactly the same but obviously we use solid sterling silver rings and unfortunately they are not edible.
The elasticated bracelet also means it will fit most wrists, so no need to worry about sizing.
The scrunchie bracelet is ideal to put your sterling silver charms on and if they have the clip-on fasteners, all you need to do is to clip them on, simple!
Coolrocks offer a wide selection of sterling silver scrunchie bracelets, from the fabulous chunky 52 gramme bracelet to the lighter 16 gramme. There is an option of having it with a sterling silver heart, coloured murano glass or you can simply customise it yourself.

Charms and charm bracelets are extremely popular today due to the wide choice available and the versatility charms provide.
Charms have been used for a long time throughout history for both protective and spiritual reasons as well as making a wonderful fashion statement. Here are some interesting facts regarding the use of charms
-
Charms go as far back as the Stone Age - charms (or amulets) were made from stones, animal bones and clay.
-
Egyptian Pharaohs used charms to ward off evil spirits, protect loved ones in the afterlife, increase fertility and assure prosperity.
-
Christians would use the Itcthys (fish) charms to indentify themselves as Christians to gain entrance into secret worship activities.
-
Around the same time, Jewish scholars were known to copy Jewish laws on tiny parchments, roll them up and place in a charm around their neck - this kept them close to their faith
-
In the Middle Ages, charms and amulets were used both knights and kings. Often used with incantations, they were used to protect warriors in battle and cause destruction amongst enemies. Charms representing family origin, political standing and profession were often worn on belts.
-
Leading up to the industrial revolution, only wealthy and affluent citizens had the means to afford the custom made charms available at the the time. However the machine age introduced the technology to mine precious metals and mass produce charms into affordable jewellery for the growing middle class - both in Europe and the United States.
-
Charms began to lose their charm (no pun intended) during the Renaissance due the circulation of books which through the knowledge provided abated the most common of superstitions.
-
Queen Victoria revolutionised the charm bracelet and turned it from an amulet to a fashion statement! The Queen would wear small
lockets containing family portraits and locks of her beloved husband Prince Alberts hair.
-
WWII soldiers leaving Europe and islands in the Pacific would purchase little handmade trinkets as gifts to bring home to their loved ones. Enterprising jewellers in the United States soon picked up on the trend and began creating charms to mark special occasions.
-
Charms took a slight backseat in the early 70s but by the mid 1980s charm bracelets reappeared and were all the rage, traditionally given to women to mark a special
birthday or marriage. By 2001 the fashion industry in particular realised how versatile a charm bracelet could be with Louis Vitton declaring them to be the “must have” accessory.
